Description
This natural edge oval bowl was turned from a elm tree we salvaged in 2020.
The beautiful contrast between the heart wood and the sap wood make this piece pop in any decor.
The oval grain converging on the knots create a very interesting pattern.
I sanded the bark smooth and kept the natural shape of the log around the rim.
The small cracks in the knots give this piece a unique natural look.
This bowl was sanded to 400 grit and finished with multiple coats of pure tung oil.
Tung oil is a non-toxic, hard-drying oil that penetrates the wood to form a matte finish which emphasize the grain and color.
